[Minecraft] The Start of a New Adventure [beta 1.7.3]
Seed: absurdpirates
I got the itch to get into Minecraft again. I first played it back in the early 2010s around the time of release 1.2, but my parents' laptop could barely run Microsoft word let alone Minecraft.
I decided for this playthrough I would start with the update where I have the most nostalgia for, beta 1.7.3. While Java Minecraft was in the release 1.2 or so at the time, I was playing the newly released Minecraft Xbox 360 edition. At launch, this game coincided with Minecraft's beta 1.6. TU3, however, coincided with Java edition's b1.7.3 and this was probably my favorite edition of the game.
I use MultiMC to manage my game versions. So, I created a new instance, and launched beta 1.7.3. Immediately I'm hit with a wave of nostalgia, like seeing an old friend after time gone by.
For added comfort, I booted up youtube on my spare laptop and loaded Markiplier's FNAF let's play series. I know it's not really time-period accurate, but it's an added comfort (ironic considering its a game about dead kids).
I go back to the game, dirt background and pixel text. The splash text reading "You've Got a Brand New Key", whatever that means. I'm guessing it's related to how when you bought Minecraft you'd get a download key? I dunno.
I click "Singleplayer", click "Create New Game". Named my world "Absurd Pirate's Adventure", and made my seed "absurdpirates". Clicked the start button and was loaded into my world.
The spawn era was partly snowy, with a small hill off to my side. Trees were immediately within my reach. As well as my first prey, a sheep.
I opened up my inventory and smiled a bit seeing my skin. If you ever played Minecraft 360 edition back then, you're probably familar with the original Master Chief skin from Skin Pack 1, the first DLC. That was my skin. My skin was originally Naked Snake from MGS3: Snake Eater, with his usual camo replaced by a rainbow pattern. I had changed it to 360 Master Chief for the added nod to 360 Minecraft.
I mined the logs of a nearby tree, created a crafting table, placed it, then made a wooden pickaxe. I kinda forgot that beta Minecraft's crafting is slower too. You have to individually click on each box, quick stacking doesn't move all items from crafting to inventory.
I went and mined some exposed stone from the nearby hill. Got enough for a pickaxe, sword, and furnace, then proceeded to craft them. Turning to the aforementioned sheep with violent intent. Swiftly sending him to sheep Jesus and getting his block of wool.
I wanted to set up my base at the coordinates x: 409, z: 2024 to coincide with my daughter's birthday. So, I'll slowly try and work my way over there grabbing resources as I go.
Came across this small cave about 100 blocks away from spawn that had a good iron and coal deposit. Heard some spiders in the cave, so I didn't trek much further as I'm unarmored and wouldn't be able to heal myself well with uncooked pork. I exited the cave with roughly 12 iron blocks and 25 coal.
I kept walking and killed the last sheep I needed to get a piece of wool for a bed to skip the night. I came across this frozen river in a snowy biome. And used it to cross a stretch of water so I wouldn't have to build a boat to cross an ocean. Probably took longer that way, but oh well.
Night approached so I placed my bed and a single torch next it and conked for the night.
Woke up, kept walking. Endless snowy tundra it seems. Found a herd of cows, so I decided to commit bovicide for the sake of getting leather armor.
Found a small patch of clay, that'll be nice for making a brick house or something.
Night 2 approached, so I slept again. Upon waking I continued on with the last leg of the pilgrimage. Within 200 blocks, I was finally there.
The area is pretty hill-y, so I will need to flatten out the area a bit more. For now, I'm just going to cut down as many trees as I can.
After a lot of time, shovels, and axes, I cleared out a significant area to mark a decent canvas to start building.

With that, I end my first play session for the day. If you made it this far, thank you for reading, and I hope you'll stick around for more.
